What would the ideal peltier PSU be like?

That is what I would like to find out.

I'm going to build myself one, but thought that, since I'm going to make the effort, I might just as well find out what the ideal PSU should be like.

at this moment the spec-sheet looks like this.

a: Switchmode 4x modular 12-24v variable
10a max\channel
b: independent temperature feedback
c: Liquid cooled
d: ?????????????????

hehehehe I know sometimes I scare myself

I figured what the hell, why bother with heatsinks on the PSU, if I'm building it actually to get rid of the damn things in the first place hehehe

www.meci.com < click on 'thermoelectric devices'.

Need an easy way to regulate the temps of your peltiers? One of these things senses the temp in order to control the current to the TEC and therefore its temperature as well. This one is only good for 6amps, however.

The same website has the perfect(almost) power supply for those TECs. You'll see it. Its about $70 or so, I think.

zippy where can we get them for that price?

How about making the Power supply the same size as a cdrom and put it in a spare 5 3/4 inch bay, with switchs on the front for power,on/off and the amount of voltage etc. It would be cool if there was a digital display on the front as well displaying the temperature under the peltier(s).

I think using watercooling on a high-voltage device might not be the greatest idea... Rather than simply being a risk to expensive equiptment it becomes a shock and fire hazzard. Plus, unless you need it to be absolutely silent, what would be the advantage of watercooling? it is very easy to sufficiently cool the type of components in a power supply.

is no more hazardous than cooling your CPU with liquid, and try and fit a 24v 40a total psu into the space taken up by one CD-ROM....
