After installing Windows 2000 the video adapter was nicely PnP recognized. However the selected IRQ was 9. This IRQ is shared with USB, soundcard , etc. The system is unstable when e.g. playing media (Audio CD or MP3 file on disk) and e.g. downloading from internet or copying in Explorer. Can I make the system more stable by manual re-arranging IRQ's? Or is there a newer driver for the video adapter (and/or other hardware)?

All Nvidia-based cards TNT and up need an IRQ to themselves, regardless of the driver used.

You could re-arrange some cards, make sure you move it if there is a card in the PCI slot directly below the AGP slot. You could also disable the USB IRQ in the BIOS.
