[RESOLVED] SSD temperature report is high

My Win8 OS is located on an OCZ Vertex 3, 128GB SSD. Various temperature checking applications are reporting a temperature around 128 C. When I first saw that, I opened the case and put a finger on the drive. It was not warm at all. My guess is that the SMART reprting function is giving a false reading. Is there any way to check this?

Invalid temperature display.
Vertex 3 does not have any temperature sensor.

There is no temperature sensor on the PCB/in the controller on these units. You CAN'T make it read a temperature.

Additional note,
Considering that solid state drives do not have any moving parts,
Not aware of any consumer solid state drives with temperature sensors.

Thank you. I suppose the temperature reporting apps that I have used go full scale when they don't see a value. Curiously, Speccy gives a temp of 24C for my Kingston SSD. Maybe that one (newer) sends out a SMART temp or even one that just keeps the software happy.

You're welcome.

As to the temperature reading of the Kingston SSD,
They may have just entered a random number into the SSD, just like OCZ did.
