Hey guys,

Got a motherboard off a friend today, along with other parts, he said its quite a good model, but he was reluctant to tell me what CPU's i can use with it...so thats why im here.

Anyone know? Research indicates its a X58 Chipset, and supports Intel Core i7 processors, but they are way to expensive for me at the moment, will this motherboard support either a Core 2 Duo or a Core 2 Quad?

Im also told i can only use a certain type of RAM? If thats true, what must i use?

-Thanks.

You can get a core i7 950 for around 950. Or, you could look for a used i7 920, which you could get for below $200.00.

All the x58 mobos support ddr3 ram.

Mobo is socket 1366.
Those are not socket 1366 processors.

Supported processors listed at ASUS.

Refer to the link already provided and click Memory/Device Support tab to download QVL.
or
Refer to your preferred memory manufacturers' website for supported memory.

I had a mishap on my first post, the price is not 950 it's around $250.00US for an I7 950.

BTW, the 1366 platform can run dual channel memory without much of a performance penalty.
