I have a corsair h100 installed in my system, which is primarily used for gaming and video editing, but when I leave for work, distributed computing. I'm afraid of one night coming home to find my system looking like this.

I hear the fan making strange noises after running 100% for 8+ hours. I think I may go back to air cooling. Any thoughts?

How about just changing the fan first, to one with fluid dynamic bearing or similar. Scythe Gentle Typhoon is frequently mentioned.

I might do that; this thing is barely six months old & it is already having problems??!!

Considering their history of changing oem after getting decent reviews, I haven't trusted Corsair for quite a while.

Also,

you might want to look in a dedicated water cooling radiator, pump, and reservoir combo if you want better cooling temperatures :).
