I am looking into getting a laptop, with Windows 7, 14-15 inch monitor and price range around $500 - $700. Do you guys have a recommendation for a laptop with these features? Thanks.

I only buy Dell's...

What will the lappy be used for?
Will be be carried around a LOT where getting a business call machine would be called for or will it just be moved around the house?

Will mainly be using the laptop for word, excel and internet. Some SAP2000 and AutoCAD 2013 usage, but nothing to involved.

Will probably take it to the local coffee shop on weekends.

It doesn't have to have hdmi, but would prefer it.

Thanks

Unfortunately everyone is on the Win 8.1 bandwagon & 7 is hard to find (except on refurbished machines which I don't think you would want), but it is quite usable with an alternate shell (classic shell, start8, etc.).

hp lists at least 61 business models with Windows 7. With that said, no idea on current prices for those.
There are four listed for consumer versions as well, with Windows 7.

I am partial to HP business machines. In my experience the machines become technologically obsolete long before anything breaks on them.

The HP website will have a changing list of business machines that the company is fairly heavily discounting-there are currently several laptops, most Windows 7. Prices vary, but most start with an 8 rather than a 7. However they come with a three-year warranty if that is important to you.

What do you mean by people going on Windows 8.1 bandwagon? Do people prefer Windows 8.1 over Windows 7?

:D No that's what MS wants you to believe! Actually Win8 with Classic Shell is decent; I do like the new file copy dialog and task manager though.

There are very few laptops with that specification. However, I would look at Dell Latitude E5430 with Intel i5 processor and Windows 7 Home Premium for $712 (configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=slctj1&cs=04&s=bsd&dgvcode=ss&c=US&l=EN&dgc=SS&cid=274303&lid=5130719&acd=12309196727460804).
