PnP Problem/Question

I have experienced a strange PnP problem that may be related to my programming.

Where does the PnP code reside? Are they addressable memory locations? While C++ programming, I think I corrupted something.
I have recently learned that Borland C++ doesn't keep your pointer assignments in a safe range of addresses.

My computer no longer recognizes my modem, it thinks it's another brand.

Any ideas? I really don't know much about PnP.

Try loading BIOS defaults in CMOS that should re-initialize your PnP
If that doesn't work you could remove all devices in device manager(In safe mode of course)
Then make sure you have all your drivers handy.
