Hi,

I just recently got as a prize (i had no choice  ) a 5.1 surround sound DVD player combo. Because i already have a dvd player i want to attatch the speakers to my computer. I got 1/8" adapters and successfully connected to my computer and got sound. however, it is very quiet because the speakers ARE UNPOWERED. The power is only supplied through the sound card on the pc (it was supposed to be completely powered through the dvd player). Is there any CHEAP way to somehow amplify the sound so that i can get cheap surround sound? Thanks

If they are passive speakers your options are fairly limited, short of cranking all the Windows volume sliders to maximum. You could try something like THIS though.
