All I have to say is DAMN Dell for having these sales. Just took advantage of their $750 off coupon for 700m's over $1,499. I guess it was good timing as my 8600 was either stolen 3 weeks ago out of my apartment or I left it in a hotel room and the cleaning people took it... Either way, I was in need of a new laptop anyway and after experiencing the 8600 while traveling I began to appreciate why people liked the smaller laptops. So here is the new guy:

Inspiron 700m Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70 GHz/400MHz FSB)12.1-in WXGA
Memory 256MB DDR SDRAM 1 Dimm (bought 1GB from crucial for $133)
Hard Drive 60 GB Hard Drive
Network Adapters Integrated Network Card
CD ROM/DVD ROM 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer Wireless Networking Card Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless
Primary Battery 4-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (32WHr)

That's about the jist of it. All told, with 2 day shipping it cost me $824. SO what do ya'll think, good deal or not?

Well, it's a cell Lithium battery. Not to sure what that will mean in terms of usage time, but I was reading that I could get the upgraded batteryon ebay for cheaper than they want at Dell. So if battery life does become an issue, I can always buy the upgraded onbe. I figured I will set up some type of test, looping something like 3dMark and see how long it lasts on a full charge. Sound like a good way to test it?

Nah, the easiest and most realistic way is to see how long you can use it "normally" without it being plugged in. If you really want to see the minimum lifespan, simply play DVDs till it quits. It's not a bad idea to run the notebook from "full" to "empty" several times to train the battery anyway.
