The 3Com kit is good. 8-port hub, 3 really long cables, 3 high-quality 3Com cards. ~$200.

As it is that you're starting from scratch spend the little bit extra to get 100 Mbit cards and hub and use Cat 5 cable.

FYI I ended up purchasing
3 10m cards $25 each
1 5 port 10M Hub $50
2 100 ft cables $25 each
1 Crimping tool $30

and as strange as it may be, i cant find the ends for the cables anywhere. they are out of stock. So im still looking

I bought the D-Link DE-906 Network kit. It comes with either 2 PCI or 2 ISA cards(10Mbps), a 5 port hub, two 15 ft Cat 5 cables w/RJ45 plugs attached, software and instructions. The hardest part to the whole setup was drilling the holes through the floor and ceilings. Their tech support was excellent. I even had a tech call ME to ask if I was having any problems. They offer both 10Mbps and 10/100Mbps kits. I highly recommend them. The 10Mbps kit cost me $80.

I actually thought running the wires was the most entertaining part. the rest was just a pain because it took me 45 minutes to realize I had conflicting IRQ's on the second machine. <G>
