jSecond Hard drive recognition at first boot

I have installed two hard drives, one new the other a older one but both the same make. Drives are hooked up right and function, however when I first boot up my system 99% of the time my system does not pickup on my second hard drive, however if I reboot the system it picks up the second hard drive with no problem. What did I or didn't I do and how do I fix it so I don't have to boot the system twice every time I start the computer. Thank You.

i can't remember exactly what the setting is called but some motherboard bios's have a setting for a harddrive or ide boot delay. you may need to use this by increasing the # of seconds that the system waits for the hardrive to spool up before it tries to detect them.
