Well I've got that itch again to get a bigger display and really want to scratch it. What are your thoughts on these 28' displays?

Hanns·G HG-281DPB = $349.99 + Free Shipping

Viewsonic X Series VX2835WM = $399.99 (after $50 mail in rebate) + Free Shipping

As a previous post of mine stated I am looking for some more realistate to work with. I also do gaming as well as watch some movies on it so that needs to be factored in too.

I've read reviews on both and for every 5 positive there seems to be one negative that keeps me from pulling the trigger.

Does anyone here have any first hand experience with either model and/or care to give your thoughts if you don't have any experience with them?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

28" sounds like a Gamer talking. I am trying to hold out for an LED LCD @ 28".

28inches is way to big to be sitting in front of (desk and chair distance), unless of course your chair is on the back wall.

don't forget a bigger display will ideally need a more powerful GPU, as it'll be running in a higher resolution, plus all those jaggies will look even bigger which means more anti-aliasing needed to retain the same image quality.

For TV's I agree that bigger is better, but for gaming monitors I do think there's a happy medium especially if, as whatsupdoc says, you're going to be sat just a couple of feet away from it.

we have a 24" wide lcd at work and it is hard to see the entire screen without having to turn your head when you are at a comfortable text reading distance.

that said, these larger screens do come in handy when you have multiple windows only.
