I have a SONY VAIO VGN-RB57G desktop that has a raid configuration. The computer is cycling while trying to boot up into windows xp. I ran IBM Drive Fitness Test on it. The second hard drive of the RAID 0 configuration is failing the IBM long hard drive test.

I need to get the data off of this computer, it is very important. Any help would be appreciated.

Once a RAID0 array is broken, you probably won't be able to get the data off. RAID0 splits clusters between the two drives.

You can try RAID Reconstructor, but you'll need a separate drive and it will take a LONG time:

Would running chkdsk /r cause even more damage to the drive? Or will it possibly fix good enough to try and get it to book and try to get data off it.

Are there any bootable file recovery software suites that work out of windows?

You can try chkdsk, but don't hold your breath.

There are bootable recovery programs, but I don't know of many that work on a broken RAID0 array. Most assume a single drive.

Is this your computer or a customer's? Anyone running RAID0 should make regular backups.
