Hello, I have a question.
Ok since only one IDE device can use the bus at once, if I have my primary master setup and then I have a 2nd HDD slaved to the same primary controller and set it up so that windows only uses it for a swap file, would that slow my windows performance down?

What is the best way to setup 2 IDE UDMA Harddrives and a UDMA CDROM up as?

Thanks for help.

It would seem you would wanna keep the swap file on the same drive where windows is located (to avoid "stopping and going" if you will), but I haven't tried it that way. Try it both ways and see if you can tell the diff.
Setup the udma hdd's on the same primary ide channel, the cd-rom on the secondary.

It won't slow your Windows at all. Putting the swap file on a different HD is in fact a good idea.

The best setup in my oppinion is:

Primary controller:

HD, MASTER

Secondary controller:

HD, MASTER
CD-ROM, SLAVE

You won't use the CD-ROM to read CD's that often and you'll probably be using the HD more. That's why it would be better to put the HD's on different controllers so they can be used simultanously.
