Electronic-safe adhesive tape?

Does anyone know what form of adhesive (tape or otherwise) to use to attach a thermal monitoring diode to a videocard? Can I just use plain ol' electrical tape or do I need a special electronic-safe tape? I have heard that the adhesive on regular tape has properties that can damage electronic components over time....any suggestions?
I know someone here can save me a trip to Fry's!!!

I don't think so. The thermal diode most probably measures infrared radiation (not heat (temperature) itself) and will therefore be contained in a small plastic case (like a LED) which allows infrared light to pass. The plastic itself doesn't care about tape, as long it's not between the diode and the "light" source.
