Disabled serial port in ACER bios

New Member
I have an 1995 ACER pc with a 75pent. 16mb of ram, and WIN95.
In the bios I try to change the
setting on the serial port but it keeps
disabling itself. It does not have an
Auto setting nor an Enable setting. All
you can do is change between the
addresses (such as: 3f8h etc... and disabled). I am trying to install an internal
modem and it is getting very irratating. Any
advise would be helpful.

Typically the selection you need is "disabled". As you indicated this was a choice, choose it and be sure to save or write changes to CMOS (another menu selection) With the port disabled you should be free to configure your modem accurately.
