Deleting "unread" (unwated) messages in Outlook Express

Hi all.

I've got just one question regarding outlook express. Is there any way that I can delete unviewed, deleted messages? Like most of you, I receive my share of unwanted garbage messages which I immediately delete as I pare through my moring email. When I go to my "deleted file", I'd like to be able to permanently delete all "unread" messages, leaving the other deleted emails in there. From time to time, I review old, read messages so I keep them for a little while and then remove them. The unread messages, however, are bothersome and I'd like to get rid of them. Rather than handling them one at a time or in small bunches, is there a command to show all "unread messages" in Outlook Express so I can permanently remove them quickly and efficiently?

I'm pretty confident there isn't a way to do this but I thought I'd ask. I'm using XP SP2 home.

Thanks!

Not sure about OE, but in Outlook go to the menu, view>>current view>>view unread messages. Might be the same in OE.

View / Current View / Hide Read Messages.
--> you now see al unread messages and can select all and delete them.

Wow!

Thanks, Ponch. I'm sooooooo tired of getting messages about Cialis and "other" sites that I could scream. Now, at least, once a day I can dump all of the "unread" messages without dumping all the read ones.

I knew there had to be a way! Thanks.

I'll be fairplay and admit JPnyc only missed it by 1/2 a millimeter in his guess. MS likes to confuse you between "hide read messages" and "view unread messages".
Like before, they used "find a file", now it's "search it". :D
