cmos

I decided to format my hard drive and install win98. Everything was working fine on the machine before this. When I tried to use a win98 boot up disk the floppy drive would not kick on. I opened the machine checked the power to the floppy, now the floppy light kicks on instantly and stays on, giving me a invalid system disk. The disk is fine. I wanted to clear CMOS but the problem is that I cannot find a battery on the motherboard. It has a Cyrix chip, but I have no idea who makes the board and no clue on the jumper settings. Any idea on how to clear cmos or just get the floppy to recognize the stratup disk?
