we always got disconnected when playing starcraft on Modem after about 2 mins of game. I'm using a Celeron 400 on a 56k internal modem (Cirrus-Ambient) and my opponent is using Pentium III 600 on a 56k Modem. I already downloaded and installed the updated driver of my modem. Is seams that the problem is in my pc since there's no problem when he's (opponent) playing on other pc. Is there any special settings to correct this problem ? Any help is very much appreciated.

Are you dialing directly to his machine? Does it make a difference who's hosting? Do you get disconnect when you do other things with your modem?

Yep, i dialed directly to his machine. When i get connected to the internet, my modem seems fine connected UN-interrupted for 4-5 hours. We been trying also other games such as C&C tiberian Sun but same problem. I think the problem occurs on MODEM TO MODEM games. Do you think processor speed can be a factor since he's on Pentium 3-600 while i'm only using celeron 400. Thanks for the reply .

I've had the same problem in the ancient days of dialups. Now I am induldging myself in broadband.

From what I remeber with dialups and SC, here're some problems that I remember:

1. Bad SC patch - try fresh install and repatch. Remeber to save your /../maps dir.

2. Bad connection between players - Comes and goes but just make sure everone got 3 greens or less in lag.

3. Lousy modem - My SB modem blaster couldn't hold a game for a min. Switched to Zoom and the problem went away.

BTW, Zerg rules.

Thanks for tips. I think I'll have to retire my "Lousy" modem. I had a bad feeling that it's really the cause.

If you're relying on psionic storm on PvP then you're asking for a butt whipping.

- There's no way a templar can out run an evolved zergling

- Templars run too slow and must travel on ground. I usually put a few burrowed zerglings in their path of travel

- Without those orbs, most templars fall victim to strategically placed lurkers.

What I fear most are dark templars. A few can sneak pass the defense and wipe out all the drones.
