harddrive won't boot up unless scandisk is disabled
here's the deal...i'm just surfing the internet minding my own business when my harddrive starts making this clicking noise and my computer freezes. when i try to reboot it won't boot up and says somehing about bad system registry and going into regedit....so i go into regedit and it freezes...i have a second bootable drive that i can boot up on but everytime it trys to run scandisk on the messed up drive it freezes...when i disable scandisk the drive starts up fine and i can luckily get everything off it...what could be causing this trouble?

go to the WD site, download the drive fitness utility and check your drive, its most likely a goner however, i would not trust any data to it. If you can fdisk or use the drives manufacturers utility ti repartition the drive, it may have been a software error, but it sounds like the drive is physically going
