Cable Modem problem - RCA dcm245

I am using the AT&T cable modem service, and I think my leased modem may have died. Friday night my connection quit, and when I power cycled the modem, it would only flash the power LED.

AT&T said there was an outage in my area, but it is fixed now, and the modem is still just flashing the power LED, and there is no connection.

I went over several things to try with the AT&T technician, and still no connection.

They are coming out Thursday, but I was wondering if there is anything else I should try?

I am about to go buy a cable modem, and try it out to see if it is the modem or the connection.

i have had 3 modems die in a year
sometimes when there is a outage you have to hit the reset button,but they should have told you that.
if their computers go screwie (don't know the technical stuff)sometimes the modem is not being read at the headquarters.

buying a modem you have to check with them so you get one compatible.
the down side is when you spill your beer on it,they wont give you another one (i did that once )
