    CD-R with XP

    Hello,

after installing XP yesterday I am running into problems burning CDs. I "upgraded" from Win98.

Here is the general message I get when running any kind of burning program:

"Unable to intialize the ASPI manager; ASPI info was not found" and "No CDROM recording device was found on the SCSI or IDE bus".

I don't know what brand of CD-R I have (computer was "assimilated"; info in Control Panel simply says "LG CD-RW CED 8042B").

Any kind of information will be greatly appreciated.

    thx,
    inv

What software do you use for your CD-R?
Maybe you can download teh latest patch for your CD-R at LG's site.
You can use Nero instead which include the ASPI files into it's own program or you can download the separate ASPI drivers HERE

I use 'CDRWIN' or 'Fireburner' for cue/bin burns, and Adaptec's 'Direct CD' for individual file burning.

Goldenhawk (CDRWIN) pointed me over to some ASPI drivers. I downloaded and installed those, but it didn't help at all.

Do you know anything about LG? I'm not sure which company the abbreviation stands for.

    thanks for you help,

It stands for Lucky Goldstar. It is the same company as Goldstar.

Here are the drivers available but I doubt there are any for XP yet: http://www.lgeservice.com/CDRW.htm

    Also update the DirectCD: http://www.roxio.com/en/support/dcdw...nupdates.jhtml
If you can keep your head while others around you are losing theirs, then there is something you don't know
