Mouse problems, should I just go optical?

I'm using this Intellimouse that came with my computer:

I started noticing eratic behaviour and even the mouse freezing every now and then. When I go through System properties and reinstall the mouse drivers, it works fine again for a couple of hours and then it'll freeze or something. I'm pretty sure it's the mouse itself (I tried another one that works fine). The mouse isn't dirty, is there any way I can fix it myself or should I just buy a new mouse? If I do need to buy a new mouse, got any suggestions? I want something relatively cheap ($20-$30).

I have an optical MS Explorer and I'll never go back to mice with balls!
You can get the Logitech optical for $25-30.

Worked alright. Note that it is a subsidiary of Logitech, a budget divion if you will. I didn't care much for the Dexxa or the Logitech drivers and removed them.

Go for the standard logitech optical mouse. It's cheap and works great.

I looked at the normal Logitech optical and I think b/c of the extra buttons, I'm going with the Dexxa. Thanks for the suggestions.
