modem connect problems
anyone have a general approach to bad modem connect speeds. I have 3 computers, all three have different kind of V90 modems. 1 consistently connects at 52,000 kbs, the other 2 consistently connect at anywhere from 21,600-33,333 kbs. Same phone lines, and differenent results on the same outlet. The most recent computer is a Sony with a lucent V90 modem, it's a dog. The best on is a AMD K6-2 system that I built myself, and has a Conextant modem that was no more than $29 or so. It almost seems that the better the modem the worse it works. Any help would be appreciated.
