First I got my DSL, now I just placed order for a 4x4x24x CDRW Richoh
The most exciting day of my life!
I also ordered 4 CDRW media and 10CDR media
so my question is that CDR mean only write once and it is permanent?
Can't wait to get my CDRW cdrom, after all these time sheesh I am slow to catch up to the crowd.

my question is that CDR mean only write once and it is permanent?
You are correct. In fact, I almost always use the term "write-once" when referring to media usually called "CD-R" (and "erasable" for what is often called "CD-RW"), because it avoids confusion (when you say CDRW, do you mean the recorder, or the erasable discs?).
My son still uses the Ricoh 4x4 I bought a few years ago. It's a little finicky about media, but it's burned several hundred discs (I'm listening to one it burned right now) and is still working as well as it ever did.
Keep in mind also that CD-Rs are compatible with most existing CD players and CD-ROM drives. CD-RWs are more useful because of their erasability, but they don't work in most CD players and CD-ROM drives. Most modern CD-ROM drives and especially DVD drives can play them, but don't expect to burn a music compilation onto a CD-RW and expect to play it in your car.
These CDR are amazing, excellent backup thought permanent. very reliable.

Depends how old the CDROM is. CDRWs can easily be read by all the drives of today. I believe there was a program that comes with Adaptec software that installs something on your machine to enable CDROMs to read it (multiread was it?) I don't remember much of this recording stuff ever since I gave the burner back to my brother a few months ago.

Listen you, when I catch you I'm gonna rip your eyes out and shove em down your pants so you can watch me beat the crap out of you!!!
take forever you burn them but it much faster for a cdrom to read it so it a good tradeoff.
