CD Writer Purchase

I don't see many comments on Acer CDRW. I can get the new model CRW1832A speeds 10X8X32X with 4MB buffer for $179. Is Acer a good drive? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Ken

I've got an acer cd-rom that seems pretty nice. I've been happy with it, it runs really smooth, but , I ve never tried the cdrw

knightkap, I have very bad experience with Acer products. Forget about it.

If you have the $$$, go for Plextor. I believe it is the best CDRW out there. anyway, I am using Yamaha. It is cheaper than Plextor and it is good. In fact, I am very happy with it as it works like a bull.

Thanks to both of you who replied. lonestar 76 comments kind of disuaded me from the purchase of Acer. Because of budget reasons could not buy Plextor. Got a Sony CRX140E which is 8x4x32 for $129 after rebate. Sound like a good purchase? Ken

I have Sony 10X/4x/32x CD-RW, and um really happy wiht it, never had a single problem. I bought it 6 months ago for $260 to replace crappy creative cd-rw! i have burned lots of CDs and never got a single coaster even playing Winamp in background.

So 8/4/32 should work great too and $129 is good deal.
