    ATA66 and ATA100

If I buy an ATA100 drive and connect it to my ATA66 Controller (on asus CUBX), will I get the full ATA66 benefits or are the any problems ?

    Yes, you will get UDMA66.

However, I'm not sure of any benefits though since most HDD aren't that fast enough to even break the UDMA33 barrier.

I'd say it would probably be faster if you connected it to the BX UDMA33 controller.

What HDD are you using? I can check the speed and see if it's worthwhile to go for UDMA66 or not.

Mole, you are all over the place

As far as I know there is a ATA66 controller on the Asus CUBX. The issue is that I can buy either a :
    IBM DeskStar 75GXP 30GB IDE100 246$.
    or a
    Maxtor DiamondMax 40+ 30,7GBIDE66 240$
    well ? *GG*

As you may or may not know, hard drives won't read data off their platters much faster than 33mb/s. The benefit of having UDMA 66 and higher is that any cache buffers built into the hard drive will be able to transfer data at those higher speeds to the rest of the system. Take this into account when making your decision.
