    Computer Overhaul ... NEED HELP!

    Ok here is the deal. I currently am running a Pentium MMX 166MHz with an ASUS TX97-x Motherboard. I have 80mb PC66 RAM , 2mb PCI Video Card , Ensoniq Sound Card , Floppy Drive , 40x A-Open CD-ROM , Quantum 2.1gb Hard Drive , Creative 56k v.90 Modem (ISA) , and a 200w Power Supply.

I am doing a major computer upgrade. I am going to purchase a Super Socket 7 A-TREND Motherboard at the following address: http://www.compgeeks.com/cgi-bin/det...s&sku=205-6453 and I am going to purchase an AMD K6-2 500MHz CPU to put in it. I will be buying it at the following address : http://www.tcwo.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi...wHCjE00g5AO1L9 . I am planning on adding a second Hard Drive. I am looking at a Samsung 15.3gb Hard Drive. Here is the address to it : http://www.tcwo.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi...wHCjE00g5AO1L9 . I am also planning on getting an AGP Video card with at least 16mb of memory on the card. I am currently unsure of what brand and what card I will be getting ... Your input would greatly be appreciated. Does this sound like a decent Computer upgrade from a Pentium MMX 166MHz system? I think it is , but I would like to hear your input on this subject. Please post what you think and any other suggestions of making this system better.

Please Note that I am definatly getting the AMD K6-2 500MHz CPU and the A-Trend Super Socket 7 Motherboard. Don't try to change my mind.

Please help me out. Thank you very much!!

Sorry to post again , but I am planning on getting a new stick of 128mb PC100 SDRAM. I can't use my PC66 RAM becuase the FSB will be at 100MHz. I am planning on purchasing it at http://www.memman.com

    Thanks!

Sounds like you have worked it all out already. That computer setup sounds pretty good. Regarding the graphics card, I would suggest a TNT2 Ultra card (32MB RAM on board) because they are very cheap at the moment and give very good performance, only second to the GeForce. The memory will also be good, but I would suggest getting P133 RAM because it is only a little more expensive than P100 and will future proof your system more. (I would check that the m'board will accept P133, but I do not see why it shouldn't).
