help my cd drive dosent play any music it installs stuff but nothing runs from it games for example please help i have trid three diffrent sound cards and ive formatted i have also used a diffrent cd drive nothing works HELP PLEASE !!
OK man, there are two things that go to your CD-ROM drive, a 40pin ribbon and the audio cable. Do you have both connected right? The ribbon (of course) goes into the MoBo and the audio cable goes into the soundcard. What kind of sound card do you have? Make sure you attach the cable in the right connector on the soundcard and make sure you install the drivers for your soundcard. Also, make sure your speaker are properly connected. And one more thing...can you see your CD-ROM drive when double click on "My Computer"? I know some of the question may sound VERY basic but I just wanted to cover all the bases.
Im a freind of rockape, and i know what the problem is, but not how to solve it...basically the pc locks up if he tries to play n audio cd or in game audio...we have tried three soundcards, loads of cables and even a different drive, but it doesnt help...its a generic 24x Max Drive on a Gigabyte GA5AX motherboard, with a soundblaster pro. The problem has me bafled but if anyone can suggets anything else we would be gratefull.
The only thing that I can think of is that the motherboard is dodgy or the operating system CD is physically damaged and doesn't copy files over properly. Could you try a different CD to install the OS?
