Hard Drive problems...

Hi,
Well the trouble started when I installed Linux but basicly when I tired to go back to Win98 I formated the drive (Quatum Fireball )with fdisk & then boot with the win98 boot disk...I started setup & it scan the disk then checks the registery & then says it is copying the files needed for Windows ( all good so far) but then it simply goes to the dos prompt & nothings happens...
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you delete NON DOS files with FDISK?

Did you FDISK/MBR before you formatted?

Try that then boot with floppy and let Windows CD format the drive.

Thanks for the reply....I did fdisk etc but still seemd bad so I used another drive a Seagate dirve & used the low level format provided by seagate & everything was going well I installed Windows on the drive but had to put the drive in my primary machince (an Athlon 800 with Microstar 6195,k7 Pro motherbaord) Windows starts to boot...gets to the StartUp screen & then reboots! the same happens with safe mode...should I post this in another forum...it now appears to be some problem with the Ahtlon motherboard/bios of somethings (I am using the latest 1.3 bios for it) Please can anyone come to the rescue I just got the machine a week ago : (
