    Can't install 2nd HDD

I am trying to install a new 2nd HDD (Samsung 13GB) when booting up the pc sees it and appears as Primary Slave. But I can't install it through Ctrl Panel/Add new Hardware, the pc detects no new hardware. I
do not have any drivers or CD's with it. Can anyone help.
If I do get it to work should I make the large empty drive the master or slave.

Did you format the new hard drive and assign it a letter? It should be letter d: (which sometimes causes problems if you have a cd-rom which will now become E: drive. Make sure the last letter in assigning drives is Z.

I've checjed the bios but ca't see anything obvious, the pc sees it as a primary slave on boot up but thats it.

    SUCCESS!!
I've managed to successfully install the srive. I went the samsung troubleshooting site - www.sosimple.com and downloaded a Go!Zilla type file which to me by the hand. This file takes you through the partitioning without all the fear of fdisk.
Thanks for everyones help. The CD-RW is next so watch this space
