The MAN is sticking it to me, Ricoh7040
There use to be directions at the above address on how to upgrade a 7040 drive to 6x writing. Please read the link. Does anyone have the files and possibly even the directions? I figured the web site would be there awhile, so I didn't d/l them.
I would like to make an anonymous web site about the same info.

looks like there might be more to the 7040 upgrade than some first thought seems that met/ricoh are now offering an upgrade for the 7040 to 7060. www.cdrzone.com has some new info on this. I did the upgrade on my drive and it seems to work good, reading at 24x causes some vibration with some disks, but I dont use it for reading anyway. still reads and writes like it should.

Well news doesnt look so good anymore, my drive started turning up errors with cdrw discs, cdr's worked perfectly at 6x, but 4x rw no longer worked properly. flashed back to 7040 and no problems.

Where did you find this upgrade? I can't find anything on the Ricoh site.
BTW, I believe that the 7060 is only 6X for CDR; it is still 4X for CDRW.
