After a home NAS to stream video

    Hi guys,

So after playing with the idea of going with a Synology because it had on the fly 4k transcoding then realising it's probably overkill for what I really want it for, I've settled on the following WD drives that are all within my budget. I just need some help selecting the best one for me. I'll be using the NAS to stream video into Plex via my Apple TV.

    My Cloud EX2 4TB (1.2GHz | 512MB) - 220
    Western Digital My Cloud EX2 4TB (2x2TB) - Data Storage Device | Alza.co.uk

    WD NAS My Cloud Mirror 4TB (1.3GHz Dual-Core | 512MB) - 234.23
WD NAS My Cloud Mirror 4TB EMEA - Ebuyer

    WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra 4TB (1.3GHz Dual-Core | 1GB) - 278.56
WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra 4TB Pre Configured 2-Bay NAS - Ebuyer

Thanks so much for your help with this.

    Steve

PS. Please let me know if you think there are better ones available for the price.

Models starting with WDBWVZ and WDBVBZ (first and last in your list) do NOT have any USB 3.0 ports.

    Here's a WD quick comparision page: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/catalog/?segment=4

From looking at the ebuyer links and the WD site they say that they all have USB 3.0... Unless you mean something else.

Either way do you have any others you can recommend?

Model numbers beginning with WDBWWD and WDBVKW are the only two with USB 3.0 on the Western Digital page I linked to above.

Yeah I've found the WD website isn't the best for properly listing specs. The WD NAS drives I listed all have USB 3.0, it's just not listed on the page you found for some reason. See below links:

Okay, then I guess I'd next look for Gigabit Ethernet and if it will hold the maximum amount of storage you think you might need over say the next five years.
