I am having a very weird problem with my Acer 24x CD-ROM. When I place a CD in the drive it tries to read from the disc for about 30-60 seconds. When it finally stops I double click the CD Drive icon in My Computer and it shows that there aren't any files on the disc. I right click and select properties and it displays that the used space is 455 MB or whatever the correct size of the disc is. The weirdest thing is that if I exit to DOS I can access the files on disc with no problems. I have only had this problem with a few discs, and I have tried these discs in other CD-ROMs and they work perfectly. I have checked the CD-ROMs settings and there are no conflicts and there are no drivers needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try going to Control Panel/System/DeviceManager/CD ROM/Properties/Settings and see if the DMA box is cheched and if so uncheck it and click apply. That might work.
