    Modem headaches

I have a Cardinal Connecta 56k, v.90, x2 modem. I was getting speeds up to 48,000, but I would always get disconnected from my ISP for no apparent reason. I then re-installed the modem, but now I can only connect at 28,800!! My ISP is V.90 and x2 compatible so I don't think it is their problem. Any suggestions?

Call your ISP and get more numbers (if available) I have EARTHLINK and had similar problems and they gave me another number not generally listed for 56k and now I connect 48kps....

a good idea would also be to call the phone company and have them run a noise/interference test on your line, it takes about 2 minutes, intermitent interference will slow down/shut down your link
