    DEVICE MANAGER AND CONTROLLER CARDS??????

I am new to this and trying to prepare to build my own(first) system. I keep reading about device managers and controller cards, When are they needed and when not.
    Thanks for your time. Steve

The only controller card of interest is if you're going SCSI. Then you need a SCSI card, unless the motherboard has integrated SCSI interface. If you're getting IDE-stuff (hd, cd-rom) all you need is on the mb.
