You need to get a capture card.

I asked this same question across a few forums a few months ago. I wanted to archive my VHS tapes because they are too bulky.

You definitely need a capture card. What I ended up doing was I picked up the ATI TV Wonder USB edition for simplicity's sake. It cost about $60 (after discounts) and it was simple to install. The quality isn't all that great, but I didn't expect much for that price. A lot of people recommend the ATI All-in-Wonder stuff if you can afford it (and if you need a new video card anyway).. it serves as a capture card and video card.

If you want just a capture card, then obviously vcdhelp.com has a list of them.
