What is media cable? Can not boot computer...need fast help.

I am getting this error msg when powering the PC:
    -------------------------------
    Intel Boot Agent ver 4.0.19
Intel Base Code, PXE-2.1 (build 083)
    copyright 1997-2001

PXE-61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
    Boot Failure: System Halted
    ---------------------------------
I am putting together a new system with the following componets:
Intel D845PT Motherboard, Pentium 1.8GHZ, 512 Kingston DDR memory
(this a mobo combo that I ordered which included testing before shipping)

I put in a matrox G550 AGP video card, 40 GB hard disk,
floppy drive. I would get the above error msg.

To isolate the problems, i put took out the video card, and replaced it
with a PCI video card (which is used on my old computer). The same above
    msg occured.

I then took out the floppy drive and hard disk. When I powered the computer,
I could hear two beeps. Then it goes to above error msg again.

I disconnected the mouse and keyboard connectors as well.
So what I have is a video card on the motherboard. The same error
    msg.

I really don't know what other cables are there that could cause the
    problem???
    I have the
-main power cable connected to the motherboard,
-the +12V power leads to the connector on the motherboard as required for
    Pentium 4,
-front case fan power connector to front fan,
-rear case fan power connector to read fan,
-processor fan connector to processor fan
(ALL fans worked when I turned on the power)
-power switch cable connected to power connector on motherboard
(I did not connect the HD LED, Reset LED, etc as to simplify trouble
    shooting process

Can you help?! Please send email to jeng2000@ureach.com

Can you get into the BIOS? It sounds like it might be trying to find a certain hard drive that's not there. If it won't even boot to the BIOS, try reseting it. There's usually a realatively obvious jumper, or it will be in the manual.

If all else fails you can take out the battery and unplug it for a day or so...

Hope this helps, if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

The Intel Boot agent allows a networked computer to boot from code provided by a network server. I suspect that your vendor uses this code to test the mobo/cpu combo without having to provide it with a bootable disk or OS during testing (you did mention "this a mobo combo that I ordered which included testing before shipping"). My guess is that your setup is still configured to boot from a network, and this setup needs to be disabled.

See http://www.intel.com/support/network...gent/index.htm for more info, or perhaps a call to the vendor you bought the mobo/CPU from?
