I can't get my TV tuner card to work properly. When I install all the drivers and everything and then go to load up the program I get a fatal system error or something like that.
The software also comes with an older version of the program which lets me open it with no problems. However when I try and record onto a mov file it makes the file size WAY.... to big.
Can someone please give me an idear of what to do?
Hi Chris, and welcome to HwC. This forum is for feedback and suggestions about Hardware Central itself, not for tech help, however, so I'm moving your post to the Video Cards & Displays forum, where the assembled experts can weigh in.
The Quicktime codecs (which produces .MOV files) aren't too great, so it's not unusual that the filesize is considerably big. You could try using an alternative codec, such as the popular DivX. One of the advantages of DivX is it gives a great deal more control over compression, quality and so on then what QuickTime does, so you can adjust and tweak the settings until you're happy with the resulting filesize and quality.
Installing it is the easy part, you simply download it and run the file. Once you've done that, you should hopefully be able to select it as your codec of choice in what ever capture software you're using. Being a first time user of DivX, leave the settings as they are and see how it turns out. If you wish to adjust the compression, I'd suggest using 1-Pass Quality based compression, that's the simplest to get started with.
