Need your recommendation on choosing between an Asus GeForce 256 32mb (not sure whether DDR or not) and MSI / Asus GF2 MX 400 64Mb. The GF256 is about $65 and GF2MX is around $ 83. I know both of them are overpriced ! but that is the price here in SriLanka . I’m on a tight budget & prefer the cheaper one, but if getting a GF256 is a BAD choice then I will consider the MX400. So what do you guys think ?. The cost is an issue.
Also I found a MX400 32mb card for $53 but the manufacturer is called Eagle. I am reluctant to buy that cos I’ve heard that it’s a cheap slow card . Please share your thoughts on that too . Thanks

If the Geforce 256 is an SDR card, I would go for the MX400. The DDR card is a toss up with the MX 400, my personal preference would still be the MX 400 due to its' newer design core and lower heat and power requirements. While some people bad mouth the MX cards, the original MX and the current MX400 are really pretty good, even up to 1024x768 resolution. Avoid the MX 200 as they are not a good deal at any price. I think even the old Geforce SDR card will outperform the MX200. good luck, chuck
Yeah I know about the MX200 (slower than the Normal TNT2). Are there any new technologies which are supported by the MX series that the GF256 doesn’t?. I would have bought the MX400 if I weren’t on a tight budget. What do you think about that Eagle card I mentioned?. How bad can that be?
