Graphics Driver NOT DirectX certified - Okay?

I have the latest (I think) incarnation of DirectX (v8a) and DX Diagnostics tells me my graphics driver is not DirectX certified. ATi, the card manufacturer, inform me that it is no longer necessary to have a certified driver to guarantee (as much as is possible) that the driver/s will work. Are they correct on this?

Graphics card companies update their drivers almost on a weekly basis. They can not get every one certified. Nvidia only certifies a full release of their drivers, which is not very often (I think they when from 6.50 to 12.41, befor certifying).

If you have no problems, then everything is fine.
