GF3 settings? HELP!

Hi,
I just installed a Gainward GF3 card in my Abit KA7-100 AMD SlotA system. For whatever reason the performance of this card is about half of what my 3DFX Voodoo5 5500 was producing. Are there any settings in BIOS or card based settings I need to check? I have tried swapping from 2x to 4x AGP mode, and haven't noticed any performance increase/decrease... seems like in every mode, im just putting out the lower 'acceptable' fps, when this card should be flying.
I've also ugraded to the DET4 drivers, and Im still getting the same lack of performance.

Have you cleaned out all traces of the Voodoo? Have you installed the most recent GART drivers? Mobo drivers?

I usually go for a fresh install of the OS when I change vid cards that are so different; as in this case.

Check everything AngryViking said, but also make sure that AntiAliasing is'nt on.
