Video and DVD are dark

Everytime I play an mpeg or DVD the display is so dark that I can barely even see it. Does anyone know what could be causing this and if so how to fix it. Thanx.

You could up the brightness on your monitor


Or you could get back to us with your system details and we'll go from there

A start would be to look through your vid card control options/properties and look for 'Video Overlay' options, and look for 'Brightness'.

If it's a good DVD program, it will have brightness or gamma adjustments. To add to what Gasman said, look for a gamma adjustment also if you don't have one for brightness.

windvd is a good dvd program..
