I would guess that newer Detonators will never work well on an SS7 platform. Just like you, I have an MX on an SS7 board and I have to use drivers lower than 6.31 (in 6.31 and higher the D3D portion goes to he**). I'm actually using hybrid Detonators - the DirectX part is lower than 6.31 and the OpenGL is higher (can't remember the exact version). Contact me if you'd like to try them.
I've heard over at AMDZone that some people have found 7.58 and 11.01 give a slight speed increase over 6.26/6.27 under 9x/Me.
Trying 7.58 now with my TNT2 (full one not that M64 piece of sh*t) and they seem a little faster + smoother by eye but I ain't had time to benchmark them yet.
Nvidia is aware of the issue with the >6.26 Detonators. They were fixing something in Win2k and it disabled TnL and I think AGP support in the MVP3 chipset. Somebody from Nvidia's Software Development section posted this info a while ago on a long running thread on this subject over at AMDZone. He said they'd fixed the issue but never said which version it was fixed in

I'm game for trying the 7.58s or 11.01s but aren't those drivers for DX8? I have DirectX 7.0a and have no need to for DX8. I play alot of Quake 2 custom maps and Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith. I don't want to hose all the games I've already got working.
Chiles4, I have Detonator 7.58 drivers running on my system and I am using DirectX 7.0a. I have had no problems. They are running better than the 6.35s I had on before.
