Made a new puter for a friend, reusing his Gateway Crystal Scan 700-069 monitor. Every time the puter is fired up the menu is displayed on the screen and you must go to exit on the menu to get rid of it.
With his old Gateway this would happen if the puter was turned on before the monitor, now it always happens.
Any ideas on how to correct this very annoying quirk? I wanted to throw my boot through the darn thing but he didn't want me to.
Puter is MSI K7T Pro2a with a Duron 800, 128 Meg, and a Matrox G-450.
Any help greatly appriceated, Bill

Try a mobo BIOS upgrade or a video card BIOS upgrade. Or, if you're using the standard plug 'n' play monitor driver in Windows, try to find the actual driver for it.

Sir, are you classified as human? Negative, I am a meat popsicle.
Oh WOW, a Crystal Scan. I'm sorry, but Gateway's current generation of shadow-mask monitors are pretty piss-poor (EV series), and the Crystal Scans were even worse.
I have to ask, the curiosity is killing me. Why the hell did you invest in a G450 for such a crappy monitor?
Have you tried the monitor on a third machine? Perhaps it has something to do with the video signal of the G450.
Read my post closer, that piece of crap isn't mine. It belongs to an unenlightened friend. It was all I could do to get him to give up his P-60 for a Duron 800.
Found the problem though, all we had to do is click on User Mode in the screen menu.
