I'm doing that at the moment.
It works very well. The ATI software automatically switches the sound input on/off when you start/stop the video input so it's a bit like having one of the All-In-Wonder cards (except you change channels on the VCR).

P.S. The one issue that I've found is that system response slows down alot for about a minute when you first initialise the video input. I think it's due to the auto balance/contrast facility kickin' in and munchin' CPU cycles.
