I've narrowed down what video card i want to a Geforce 2 GTS.
Now which one is best? they are listed on Pricewatch for between 140-160.00,
    Inno3d Geforce2 GTS.
    PowerGENE CGTS2
    MSI Starforce 815 (MSI8815) Geforce 2 GTS
    Vision Tek NV15
    any ideas greatly appreiciated.
    Thanks,
    Cy

Go with Inno3D. Their Pro versions rock because they can smoke an Ultra model (they can clock to higher speeds than an Ultra!). This is due to the fact that they use higher speed ram. I also believe that their 32MB GTS models have higher speed ram than the other competing cards.

Nab either the Inno3D or the MSI. Both are good quality cards for a value price.

I'd get the VisionTek. Mine has been an absolute joy. I've read that visiontek actually designs Nvidia's reference boards, so I think they probably have it down pretty good. VisionTek also produces a lot of cards for elsa, which get remarked as Elsa's and sold for more.

Of course, if you find that inno3d's gts does indeed have faster RAM than other gts's, then by all means, go that way. However, I'm nearly positive wrathchild_67 is full of **** on that one.

I stand by Leadtek for superior 2D quality and great overclocking capability.

I'd recommend the Leadtek WinFast GeForce2 GTS 32 MB instead. It's a retail version that comes with TV out, hardware monitoring, and faster 5.5ns DDR RAM. I'm running mine O/C'ed at 245/400. The 2D quality is much better than my old Hercules 3D Prophet DDR-DVI. You can get it for $165 including free Fed Ex shipping here:

I'm using the Leadtek Winfast GeForce2 Pro. I has 5ns memory and seems to be tweak-a-licious. I haven't gotten a chance to fool with the settings yet. I'll post again once I do.

Oh, and the best thing about the Leadtek card is that I got the Pro for the same price as the GTS. Maybe the reseller just messed up or maybe it's just a cheap Pro card.

Have you thought about Asus, or Hercules? Don't leave them out, they both make great cards.

    Yeah,
I got the MSI Geforce 2 GTS from Newegg.com for $145 shipped. @$#%ing good deal if you ask me. It's a great card - cheaper simply because MSI isn't known for their graphics cards. However, as the Starforce is based on the NVidia reference desing and MSI is an excellent company, you can rest assured that it's a high quality GF2... I am very happy with it. This card overclocks as well as any of them (and in several online reviews better than others). Oh, and with any luck they'll accidentally send you a Geforce 2 Pro, too...

I've always heard that Leadtek makes excellent video cards. But watch out for the cheapest vendors that come up with Pricewatch. Some of them are sleezebags! The first vendor that comes up that I can recommend is Atacom. Watch out for outrageous shipping charges too. And I'd recommended you avoid any vendors based in New York City, too. I've dealt with some and it's not worth it!

Newegg also should have the Leadtek with free shipping. The MSI is known specifically for poorer 2D quality than the competition. The Leadtek would be a better choice.

I'm just wondering by who (other than you) - and where - the MSI is specifically considered to have poorer 2d? I am genuinely curious, not trying to start a flame war or argument...
    Thanks.
