I'm a average home user.I plan to use my old Voodoo2 cards to play older glide games with one of these cards.I am interested in good 2D for online web surfing also. Thanks
I forgot to mention i read that the matrox card has a feature to take some of the load off your main prossesor by enabling reads to the memory both ways becauses its DDR memory???

DDR memory definately helps!! If you will one day add another monitor to your system, the G450 will allow you to do so very easily!! The card itself is no doubt a great buy!

You can game with Matrox, just not at some ungodly resolution.
I can push 55fps in Q3A, 800x600x32 demo001
I also top out over 70fps in CS in 800x600.
The other reason the G450 performs worse than the G400 MAX is the 125MHz core speed. Yeah, you heard right, a .18 micron part clocked lower then the MAX.
I'd suggest a MAX if you can find one for a reasonable price. Would have been nice If Matrox released a .18 micron MAX with DDR, would've sold DAMN well. I might have considered one, with the G800 being so late.
Why would the Gforce not be so great for 3D animation? I am looking to get a Geforce MX or a Matrox also, and I am planning to use the machine for gaming and 3D modeling.
He's not dead, he's electroencephalographically challenged... CLEAR!
You FOOL!!
Matrox carsd rock. Sure they're not the fastest but I'm happy to sacrifice a few fps in exchange for a visual orgasm every time you play.
My G400 o/c to MAX speed scores 3600+ on 3DMark2K which is only slightly less than a GF2MX.. & it looks sooooo much better. Plus the Twinview is worthless compared to Matrox's DualHead.

Be aware that a halo has to fall only a few inches to be a noose.
He is right though, if I had to work continuously on my friend's machine with a GF2, I'd go insane. Blur city.
To put his GeForce EVEN MORE to shame, I've got a second computer (PMMX 225) for when I'm encoding videos and such on my main box. I have a worthless $10 Trident 3D Image 9750 2mb in it, and it looks BETTER than his GeForce2 could ever hope to. Now THATS sad.
If you're a stickler about image quality, then I would suggest a Radeon if you also crave more gaming performance.
Anyway, unless Leadtek breaks with the overwhelming majority of manufacturers that use Nvidia's reference filter, they'll have the exact same crummy image quality. Do they use their own custom filter?
