Maximizeprob in UT and Rune with new ASUS AGP-V7100

Went from Voodoo3 3000, Cely466 on ABIT BF6 to ASUS AGP-V7100/T MX, Duron 850 on ASUS A7V133.
As usual I run windows at 1280x768 and games at 800x600, but now when I run games like my dear old UT and Rune they pop up in a windows screen and do not maximize like they used to. I try to force them to maximize but always fail, I can't find any settings that fix this. Never had any problems with this on my old rig.. Any ideas?
