Why is my GeForce 2 so slow?

I have a Duron 600@800 system on the KT7-RAID motherboard. Have a CL GeForce 2 GTS 32MB. I get 3DMarks 2000 scores of about 2000 or so. I'm quite sure it is capable of more (seen other ppl's benchmarks). Is there some setting that I have not turned on? AGP4x is on (I think) since I used PowerStrip to turn it on. I'm using Detonator 6.31 drivers (from nVidia's website).

It maybe your drivers that are slowing you down. Try getting the 6.49's or 6.50's and benchmark again. Its mostly trial and error from there to see which detonators are working best for ya. I also got around 5700 3dmarks with my 850mhz athlon and Asus V7700. Any experts out there that can tell me what I can do to increase my score to aout 6000 3dmarks?

Two things, have you installed the VIA 4 in 1's correctly? latest beta version is 4.26 if you want to try them, working fine on my KT7 Raid. You'll need a Viagart.cat file missing from the betas, (It's just a secure catalog, windows uses this file to know if the drivers are approved by Microsoft)

Just download the cat file to a directory of your choice and browse to it when the
4.26 install prompts you for it.

The other thing is some of the Nvidia detonators enable either 1.5 x or 2 x 2 FSAA in the D3D / More D3D box in the display properties by default. have a look and turn it off if so. I'm using 6.49's with good results.

Also check that you have AGP appeture set to 64mb, 32 or lower can disable the agp. (usually half your system ram amount but try other higher values to see.)

There is an AGP 4 x setting in the bios as well although 4x makes little difference over 2x.

In addition leave it at the default setting when you bench it,6000-7000 should be your score,so leave it at 1024x768x16 default

BladeRunner, your advice worked liked a charm... installed the new Via drivers, I'm still on Detonator 6.31, but got me a nice 3DMark score of 6723 (at 840Mhz CPU speed).
